Yaaay, I got my host family
I'm going to live in a suburb of Las Vegas, just 8 miles from the center of the city. It's awesome, I couldn't have wished for a better placement! I've started emailing with my host mom, and she's promised to send me pictures soon

I may be leaving Denmark on August 13 - that's less than a month a way!

Ohmygosh, sorry I didn't respond right away, but that's where I'm from! You're going to have a totally awesome time... a lot of people think Medford is absolutely horrible, but if you get to know it, you'll love it. Send me a message!

Some things you have to do:

-Pear Blossom run... it's a race they have every year. There's a massive pear crop in the Rouge Valley. You'll see pear orchards all the time, and don't freak out when you see huge fires in them or hear weird noises coming from them- they put these massive fire things in them to keep the trees warm and they look/sound frightening. But anyways a lot of people run the Pear Blossom and it'd be fun even to go watch. I did the 1 mile (haha) once and the 5K, too.

-JACKSONVILLE. That's actually my hometown. It's a little historical town 5 minutes down Rossanley (there are two big roads, Hanley and Ross, and then they fuse to form Rossanley) and it's adorable. It's a National Historic Landmark and has tons of cute shops and restaurants in old buildings, an old cemetery, prison, courthouse. Lots of hiking and trails up in the mountains. Also, there's a music festival there every year called the Britt that starts in May. You should try to get some tickets to it! It's fun, laid back, and good entertainment.

-White's corn maze at the White's Family Farm, which you pass going into Jacksonville... around Halloween they make a massive maze out of their cornfield that's really fun to go hang out at with friends at night.

-Mt. Ashland. Great skiing! A lot of schools do programs in the winter where once a week they bus all the students up (or your parents can drive/carpool) and everybody from the school goes skiing.

-Ashland! Fun town. It's totally hippie. Really hippie. Good stores, good eating, beautiful Lithia Park. Also, they have a Shakespeare company there that's one of the best in the country, and they put on a lot of fantastic plays that you shouldn't miss while you're there.

Ah I could go on and on! Please PM me if you want to know anything at all or if you have any questions.
