Hey guys !

So AFS told me on Monday that a family picked me.
I have no news since that ..
AFS France told me that the family is probably still filling their application.
But I can't wait to know more !!
How much time does it take to fill in a host family application ?

If the governmental requirements are anything like the US, it's not so much the actual application. It's the other requirements, like getting references, possible background checks, interviews... I don't know what's required in Italy (or France).

Oh no, its not that hard at all... they accept pretty much everyone. There are just a lot of documents you have to get. I worried about it WAY too much.

I just turned in my full application yesterday! =D

How long does it typically take to be accepted by AFS-USA after you submit your application? My advisor is out of the office until Aug 6 does that make a difference?

How long after that until you get accepted by the host country? About a month I read somewhere, I think?

As long as they have all the papers required, and the interview is in, it shouldn't take too long. Even so, give it some time. As far as the host country goes, they all work on their own timelines so it's hard to say how long it will take. Some countries are very prompt, some aren't. Regardless, you will get a call if there is something wrong or they need further information.

Yes my interview is in and I double checked my application everything is in, and correct.

But I'm still wondering if my advisor being out until Aug 6 is going to affect it?

Thanks though! =D

It will only slow it down in the sense that the person/s covering for your advisor now have their work plus the person-on-vacation's work to do also...

This is really stupid, I can't believe I've lost them.

I was wondering what happens if you lose your AFS ID card? I have also misplaced my Alien Registration Card (for Japan).... I have no idea where they went...
