I completely agree!!! I know five of the six russian cases, but i can barely understand my host father, and my host mother constantly has to speak in english! I wouldn't be able to have a real conversation in russian at this point - I'm not sure if anyone cares that i like vegetables or that i studied last night, which is pretty much all i can say (in past, present, or future - aw snap!)

Unrelated whine: whenever i mention the smallest difference between the US and Russia, they assume i'm complaining and want to come home. I tell them I am served something with cabbage in it every day, and they say, "oh, just three more weeks of it and you'll be home eating normal food!" do they not realize that as difficult as this is, I don't want to leave? Yes, i whine sometimes, but the idea of leaving makes me want to cry! this country is amazing and i've made such great friends in just one month.

We ARE complaining. A lot. I know that a few of us probably seem like whiny bitches, but what we are getting is NOT what we signed up for. And no matter what we say, they don't change. I told my host family what was going on after like a week, and they told me to just complain to ISE. A few other people's families said the same. It's not doing anything, and we're all sick of complaining. Personally, I have zero trust in my organization. I think that there are major communication issues, money issues, trust issues, and "lack of caring" issues.

We were told 4 hours a day of class. We have either 2 (pointless days) or 7 (kill-yourself days).
We were told TÖMER Center in Taksim. We got a shitty building in a random, boring neighborhood.
We were told one-hour commutes. Some people have 2-3 hours.
We were told "cultural immersion". We get whole days with other Americans.
We were told that we got meals at school. We have to buy lunch or ask our families to do something they didn't sign up for.
My host family was originally told that I would only stay with them on weekends. (They're being amazing about it, but I feel bad.)

aggh ACES is flipping out now because of something completely ridiculous that she shouldn't even know about. They're trying to come up with all these crazy rules that they can't enforce now.

Guess what I did today? I waited for a train that was late. Then I waited for a bus that was late. Then I had 45min of class. Then I had lunch. Then I did NOTHING for 4 hours and was forced to stay inside the class building. Then I went home while half the class went to someone's house. Thanks, guys. I realllly appreciate being the only one on the bus not invited. Luv ya lots!

ACES'den ve ISE'den nefret ediyorum!!
(see? I'm learning something even if I messed that up)

I think I'm going to be sick on Thursday and maybe friday...

fml.
tomorrow, I have to sing some stinkin' "American song" in front of people I've never met that don't speak English, aca-FREAKIN'-pella because I'm a fricken foreigner and they want to hear what "real english" sounds like.

There is a REASON I quit choir at 14. I cannot sing. I am so fricken tone-deaf it's not even funny.

This is racial discrimination, I swear. >:0

There have been mosquitoes flying around my room for the past 3 nights. I killed one of them, but the other is still at large. I hear it buzzing when I'm trying to fall asleep. I wake up with tons of new bites all over my legs and arms because it's too hot to sleep with a sheet or blanket. I'm soooo itchy XP

I did something stupid that could have wrecked my exchange... It might have wrecked my relationship with my host family and I hate myself for it.

I have lost my alien registration card, AFS ID card and healthcare card in the process. Where the hell did they go!!??

Also... I am so homesick right now! I love Japan, but kinda wish I came in university. I don't understand why I thought japanese high school was so great.... I would love to be back at home in my own bed, with my family and friends, going to university, but I am too damn proud to give up on this exchange. I will see it through to the end, and hopefully things start to look up.
